Seohyeon Celtic, tie your bootlaces, tuck in your new shirt, do not forget to apply the wax Ricky and put away those cigarettes Jamsie, the dawn of season 10 is here. For the bhoyo's it is all about following up the hard winter work, gelling in the new signings and improving on the last season, their best season to date. Management has done their job, signings have been made, players have been retained, the finances are in order and the fans have the song books at the ready - now it's up to the lads on the field to deliver the goods.
Celtic have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. The defence remains from last season and the midfield with some added dynamism provided by some new signings looks set to challenge the best the league has to offer. The forwards will hope to be given more chances to burst the onion basket this season and overall fitness levels have improved. Despite some statisticians predicting a relegation battle manager Jun Young has declared that a top 3 finish is the aim; 'Our Team goal is to break up the current top3 . We will play them 6 times in all. Let's win at least once vs each team. If we can then we'll defo stay in the mix till the end!'. The Celts are ready, let the games begin! |
2015 Autumn Season Match 1 Report
NEW SEASON APPROACHES
Some might think it a little perverse, starting the football season at the end of August. Think about it - games will be played in blazing end of summer sunshine, in cold November evenings, and in the snows up before Christmas. Short sleeves will give way to long and suncream will be replaced by hot water bottles. But it will all be with the same aim in mind - winning the league. On the precipice of a new campaign, it feels a little daunting for the Celtic fans, and they are not even the ones playing.
Yet of course the overriding feeling is one of excitement. At this stage, anything could happen this season. Celtic could storm to the title with 42 points. Falcons and Villains could both get relegated. Liam Hayes could make a come back as the most promising number 10 since Alvaro Recoba, Rick could score 20 and Jacob might pass. They are all possibilities.
The SSFL has been called unpredictable this year by many - unpredictable in the sense that the same top four as last year will remain the top four this year, only with third and fourth maybe swapped around, although that is seen as a touch imaginative. The league has been labelled as exciting, because the promoted team might not struggle as badly as last time and could maybe finish 7th rather than 8th, although, again, this is going beyond the bounds of reasonable probability previously touched upon.
But Celtic fans know better than that. This season really could be the one when Seohyeon break into the top 4 and mount a serious challenge. Shrewd signings have been made, some old faithfuls have kept injury free and relatively fit in the off season, Tevez has lost a few kgs and Peter is still the best goalkeeper in the country. The Celtic fans as well as the players can approach this season with optimism and can sense that the Saturday's from the end of August to mid December will be exciting times indeed.
